The cross represented the wheel of the sun to the pagan, but to the Christian it was a symbol of suffering and pain. Hebrews 12 says Jesus endured the cross and despised the shame. He did not relish them. In Galatians 6, Paul gloried in the cross of suffering instead of his successes, and chose to list all of his times of persecution as his way of glorying. However, Paul did not cherish the cross as a pagan symbol. History, archaeology, and ancient drawings are plentiful in showing that the cross was being used in pagan occult practice long before Jesus Christ. Thus, even occult celebrities wear crosses.
